Attack on Titan Season 1 Episode 6 Overview
Armin is disturbed by Eren’s death, while Mikasa convinces a merchant boss to allow the people to leave the district before his goods arrive. She recalls the day Eren rescued her from bandits who had murdered her parents, the day she received her scarf and began to see Eren as family.
In this current situation, Connie finds Armin and tries to rescue him from his shock. Connie’s team member Ymir informs him of the fact. They’ve all been killed out with him left alone. Christa begs them to stop arguing since everyone is losing friends left and right. During that time, Connie and his squad advance, Armin apologizes and returns to the rearguard.
Armin is immediately faced with the truth of this world, in which the strong defeat the weak. He is filled with regret and sadness now that his friend, the one who has always shielded him from his weakness, has died. He discovers Hanna down below, who is attempting to revive Franz but failing. He advises her to stop since Franz is no longer alive. He can’t stand it any longer.
As one of the merchants’ wagons blocks the evacuation gates, the evacuation is stopped. An abnormal giant suddenly moves on the gathering, causing panic.
The defending elites are struggling to catch up with it when Mikasa comes and slices through the creature’s weak spot. When the titan collapses in front of the crowd, the merchant instructs her to command the large crowd and assist him. Mikasa rushes up and threatens to murder the merchant, who agrees to move his cart back. The citizens praise Mikasa for her assistance, and she salutes them.
Mikasa is reminded of how she got into her current circumstance. She lived on an ideal hillside with her parents in the year 844. Dr. Jaeger pays them a visit with Eren one day, but no one answers. Mikasa’s parents are dead when he opens the door, but she is nowhere to be found. Dr. Jaeger contacts the police and leaves Eren at the mountain’s base to wait.
Mikasa has been kidnapped by criminals who want to sell her because she is “Oriental.” She is the last clan descendent to seek refuge behind the walls. Her mother would have been more desirable because she is a true-blood oriental, but she was killed in the struggle by the thugs. Mikasa’s world is turned upside down when she witnesses her parents’ death.
The door to their hideaway suddenly opens. It’s Eren, who claims to have become lost in the woods and sought shelter in their cabin to avoid the rain. The two thugs chase him away, but Eren stabs one of them and leads the other into a trap, murdering both of them in revenge for what they’d done to her.
Eren introduces himself as he releases Mikasa, but there’s another thug nearby. He closes in to assassinate Eren, but Mikasa takes action and stabs him as Eren encourages her to fight. She learns that taking a life is all around them in nature, and they all live in a cruel environment. Something inside her triggered the battle instinct, and she grasped the knife and pulled it to the man’s heart.
Eren and Mikasa killed all those three Kidnappers. After saving Mikasa from those Kidnappers Eren and Mikasa both leave the place. When military police arrive at the place, they can not believe what they’d done to those kidnappers. Eren defends his actions as risky animal hunting, and Dr. Jaeger wants to punish him for casually risking his life, but that is all he can do to rescue her.
Mikasa asks Dr. Jaeger how she can return home from now on, so Eren removes his scarf and gives it to her to keep her warm. Dr. Jaeger chooses to adopt her after hearing about her tragedy. Eren takes her hand in his and encourages him to return home.
Mikasa is told to withdraw after killing more titans, but she refuses and goes to help the vanguard. She believes she can achieve anything as long as Eren is present.
Attack on Titan Season 1 Episode 6 Summary
Armin comes out of shock after seeing the killings of his Squad 34, which included Thomas Wagner, Nack Tierce, Milieus Zeremski, Mina Carolina, and his best friend Eren Jaeger, to find Conny Springer shaking him. Conny asks Armin what happened to the rest of his team after waking up from his trance. Christa’s companion claims that they were clearly wiped out and accuses him of being a coward because only he avoided death. Conny is going to fight her, but Christa gets involved and tries to calm everyone down.
Armin departs because he fears he would drag everyone down again, and he recognises that the world has always been cruel, and he believes his friends, Eren and Mikasa, saw him as someone to protect since he is so weak. He soon encounters Hanna Diament, who is struggling to revive Franz Kefka, who has been severed in two. She continues to perform CPR and begs Armin for help, but when he realises Franz is dead, he cries, pleading with Hanna to quit her hopeless attempts and telling himself that he can’t take it any longer.
A crowd gathers at the base of Wall Rose as a merchant unsuccessfully attempts to enter the inside with his waggon load of goods. People protest that they need to leave first, and they force a Garrison soldier to the front to arrest him. However, the merchant threatens the soldier with his power with military higher-ups and silences the soldier before telling him that his goods are worth more than people’s lives or any amount of money they would ever make. At that time, a little girl observes an abnormal Titan approaching them, ignoring the elite troops following it. Mikasa immediately overtakes and easily dispatches it.
Mikasa observes her now dulled blades before glancing up to discover that the villagers have not yet been evacuated, while the merchant warns her as well. Mikasa comes approaches him, threatening to execute him if it means the rest of the people would survive. As the citizens rush past the gate, the little girl thanks Mikasa, who salutes her back. As Mikasa’s squad commander congratulates her on her rapid movements, he wondered out loud what she had to suffer to become such a good soldier.
Mikasa begins to reflect on her own background while thinking about the little child and her mother. When her family received a knock on the door, she had just shown her mother a needlework she had done in the tradition of her people. Outside, Eren and his father, Dr. Grisha Jaeger, are at Mikasa’s house, and as Dr. Jaeger tells his son about Mikasa, Eren gruffly responds that only Mikasa will decide if they will become friends.
Dr. Jaeger suspects something is wrong when no one responds and opens the door to find both of Mikasa’s parents dead. After checking for pulses, he hurries to report the incident to the Military Police Regiment and instructs Eren to meet him at the mountain’s foot.
Mikasa, meantime, awakens with her wrists bound behind her back. When her father answered the door, he was stabbed in the stomach as bandits broke into the house. Mikasa’s mother grabs a pair of scissors and instructs her to escape while she attacks the gang. However, Mikasa is gripped by fear as a result of these incidents, and one of the bandits murders Mikasa’s determined mother. She is even more taken aback when the bandit delivers a punch that knocks her out.
The guys talk of selling Mikasa on the black market because Orientals have gone out and she is the last one. Mikasa’s father is not Oriental, and they argue on why Mikasa’s mother had to die because she was the last pure blood. Eren timidly opens the door and declares that he is lost at that moment. When Eren takes out a knife and stabs the man in the throat before bringing the knife out the side, a trafficker approaches him and offers to soothe him.
Everyone is stunned, and as Eren softly closes the door, a second guy follows him furiously, only to find Eren charging at him with a knife connected to a broom, killing him before pulling out another knife and brutally slashing the man he considers an animal for enslaving children. He then introduces himself to Mikasa and frees her, and she reveals a third man in the group. As soon as Eren hears it, the third man enters, surprised, and begins choking him before he can reach for his knife.
Eren orders Mikasa to fight, but she is terrified and holds the knife shakily. However, she pauses for a minute and understands that the world is terrible and that death is a permanent part of life, recalling watching a praying mantis consume a moth and her father bring back a duck he had killed while hunting. This awakens tremendous impulses inside her, which she keeps to this day. She regains control of herself and stabs the third man in the heart from behind. Later, the Military Police examine the crime scene and are taken aback by the brutality and age of those who murdered the people smugglers.
Dr. Jaeger scolds Eren for not worrying about his own safety, but Eren claims he was only concerned with rescuing Mikasa as quickly as possible. Mikasa is heartbroken about the loss of her family and wonders how she will get home because she is cold and has nothing left. Eren hands her his scarf and tells her she may keep it before Dr. Jaeger invites her to live with his family. Mikasa is overcome with passion and delight, and as the flashback concludes, she reconfirms that the world is cruel.
The bell sounds, signalling that the evacuation is complete and that the soldiers can return home. Ian summons Mikasa to the Wall, but she departs to assist the vanguard.
She concludes that even under these difficult circumstances, she has a family and that with Eren, she can do anything.
