Attack on Titan Season 1 Episode 12 Overview

Attack on titan season 1 episode 12
Attack on Titan Season 1 Episode 12

The Garrison elite squad is divided by Eren’s unexpected attack, but Ian is of the opinion that Eren should be protected at all costs. Although Jean’s ODM gear breaks down and he is cornered, the cadets continue to divert the attention of the Titans throughout the city.

When Eren sees flares that indicate failure, Armin goes to him and communicates to him by slicing into his Titan’s neck, reminding him of his desires to roam. With his will power restored, Eren’s Titan starts to heal its injuries.

Complications

Although they suffer some losses in the process, the decoy squad at the north end of the wall succeeds in drawing the titans to the corner. Pyxis acknowledges that he gave the orders to kill them, but he is prepared to be viewed as a murderer in order to advance mankind.

Eren strikes Mikasa where she is perched. She should talk to Ian, but instead she engages in a struggle with Eren. When Rico realises that they have failed, she fires a red flare, but Eren hits him in the head and falls. Another team in the area says that more titans are on their way. Mikasa gives them a cold glare when Rico considers ending the operation.

Even though Pyxis and the others see the red flare signal, the commander doesn’t retreat and instead gives the elite squad the authority to make the choice. The deaths of the other people would be in vain if they gave up now. Armin rushes to check on Eren in the meanwhile.

The members of the elite squad feel that they have lost their chance and urge Ian to opt to leave Eren lying on the ground. To protect Eren, Ian turns back and commands them to attack the approaching titans. Until he is able to heal, they will have to defend him. Ian shares Pyxis’ desire to continue trying even if more people die.

Marco is still optimistic that Eren can proceed as Jean heads back to Connie’s group to see out what’s going on. Jean advises limiting their losses while the opposing team escapes their situation.

Scrambling forces

Ian and Rico keep arguing over how to proceed, but Ian is adamant on making a sacrifice for this new weapon. They have no other opportunity to engage the adversary in combat. Even though Rico isn’t convinced, he nevertheless goes ahead with the scheme. Ian praises Mikasa and tells her to prepare to defend Eren.

She suddenly becomes aware that Eren’s titan bodily parts have not been regenerating.

As he rests inside solid flesh, Eren’s eyesight and memories become hazy. As soon as he imagines him at home with his family and Mikasa, he falls off.

Eren is discovered on the ground by Armin, who is able to catch up to him.

As the streets are being cleared of the wandering titans, Jean and the other cadets work together.

The gates are being overrun by more titans, so Ian and the elites must keep up to protect Eren. Mikasa kills two of them, but more keep coming in, maybe drawn by Eren’s presence.

Remembrance

Armin asks Mikasa from over Eren’s corpse about what happened. She informs him that additional foes are entering and that the giant is not responding. Armin wakes him up by putting his sword to his neck since he has no other option. Eren is now writhing after feeling that sharp agony, so he begs for Mikasa to leave while he attends to him. Eren is summoned by Armin, who also reminds him of the strategy for eliminating all the titans in order to get revenge on his mother.

Eren observes his mother washing dishes nearby while still in a dreamy condition. But all of a sudden, memories start to come back.

While assisting the defensive squad, Jean’s ODM begins to fail, forcing him to flee while a titan pursues him. While he is hiding inside the structure, the giant continues to pursue him. By the road, he discovers another set of ODM gear belonging to a fallen soldier.

Eren is still being spoken to by Armin, who keeps bringing up their desire to travel the world and discover all the wonders they read about in books. They desired to enlist in the Scout Regiment for this reason. Eren awakens at last.

Attack on Titan Season 1 Episode 12 Summary

Mikasa tries to talk to Eren
Mikasa tries to talk to Eren

Even if the troops make every effort to stay out of the fight, a fifth of them perish, thus the plan to attract Titans to the corner of Trost is nevertheless carried out. However, according to Commander Dot Pyxis, it is his commands that cause the men to perish, not their own actions. Pyxis asserts that this is a crucial moment in the survival of humanity and that he does not mind being labeled a killer as long as people are able to survive.

To the amazement of the rest of the squad, Mikasa manages to avoid Eren’s fists at the boulder and, in an effort to speak with him, hangs herself at his face. Rico fires a red signal flare in the background to show that the scheme has failed. Ian tells Mikasa to stay away from Eren just as Eren punches his own head as Mikasa manages to avoid as Ian notices Eren preparing to unleash another attack. The elite squad then discusses abandoning Eren there and withdrawing, much to Mikasa’s displeasure.

The troops on top of the Walls see the red signal flare. When Armin notices this, he makes the decision to go there. Then a soldier suggests concentrating on defense and disbanding the special team, but Pyxis urges them to keep enticing the Titans and places all of his faith in them, claiming that they will not give up so easily.

A furious Mikasa starts in his direction, but Ian stops him. Meanwhile, Mitabi chooses to flee. Then, to everyone’s surprise, he gives the command for them to defeat the approaching Titans. Eren, he says, cannot be left behind because he is a priceless opportunity for humanity.

Rico27s resolve

Meanwhile, Jean arrives at the Wall and inquires about Eren’s condition. Armin is going there alone, and Marco responds that he hopes everything will be well. Jean just states that they must maintain their numbers since it would later turn into an all-out battle when Conny expresses his worries about the strategy and queries whether the troops who have died in vain.

They should attempt to avoid becoming casualties ourselves, Conny simply responds. The elite squad debates fleeing in another scene, but ultimately decides to go through with the plan after Rico threatens to demonstrate to them just how terrible people can be. When Mikasa praises Ian, he responds that she doesn’t need to and tells her to defend her “lover,” prompting Mikasa to flush and remark that Ian is her family.

Armin arrives
Armin notices Eren situation

When Mikasa sees that Eren’s wounds are not healing, she starts to question if her injuries from the previous fight are to blame. She wonders if Eren will be able to revert to his human form, but she restrains herself because she cannot determine this via thought.

Armin is seen sprinting on top of the Wall in the meantime and looking confused. Eren is depicted as being barely aware within the Titan and having no idea of his whereabouts or what he is doing. Then he sees himself at home, where he can see Mikasa and his parents. Armin comes at that moment only to find a wounded Eren in his Titan form.

Other troops, including Jean, Conny, Annie, and others, receive orders to draw the Titans to a corner of the Wall, and when they notice dust explosions, they leave. Mikasa, a member of the elite squad, kills a Titan to save Mitabi, but they are shocked to see additional Titans enter the area. Then Mikasa understands that Eren is the one enticing the Titans in. Eren is unable to manage the Titan, she informs Armin, who inquires about the plan and Eren’s condition. Armin stabs the Titan in the neck, passing the blade through Eren’s left arm within the Titan because he thinks that Eren emerging from the Titan’s weak spot back then had something to do with the Titans’ mystery.

He orders Mikasa to protect everyone from the Titans before making an effort to speak with Eren. Eren, however, can not comprehend what Armin is saying when he is seen by Eren in his vision as Armin from outside the window. He recalls joining the Scout Regiment at that very time. While everything is going on, Mikasa and the elite team keep trying to stop any Titans from getting to Eren.

Eren argues that it is his birthright to see the outer world.

The task of Jean, Annie, and Conny is carried out in the streets below the Wall. While Annie and Conny succeed in getting to the Wall, Jean’s omnidirectional mobility gear malfunctions, leaving him with little choice but to flee on foot. He withdraws within a structure and into a window, thinking to himself how worthless he is.

The soldier’s corpse is later discovered, still covered in their omnidirectional mobility equipment. Armin asks Eren if he recalls that they want to travel outside as they continue their conversation. Just as his vision bursts into flames and the Titan with Eren within awakes, he challenges Eren’s motivations and he responds that he is doing it because he was born into this planet.

Our thoughts for Attack on Titan Season 1 Episode 12

In this episode, the story build-up going very well. Using Eren’s abilities shouldn’t necessarily be handy the first time. I’m glad the tensions continue despite having what appears to be a superior weapon on their side. We give 4 ratings out of 5 to this episode. Hope you like this episode’s detailed recap.
