In its search for Eren, the Female Titan decimates the Scout Regiment and murders every soldier it encounters. Commander Erwin reroutes the formation towards the Forest of Giant Trees in the meanwhile.

The Female Titan is shortly encountered by Squad Levi once they reach the forest. Despite the severe circumstances, Captain Levi appears to be acting rationally while the squad starts to panic and asks for guidance.

Respite

In order to check their supplies, provide first aid, and whistle messages to their missing horses, Armin, Jean, and Reiner retreated. With only one horse and three of them, they’re in terrible difficulty, and Jean dreads the thought of having to abandon someone in this titan-infested area.

Armin recalls the female titan’s expression well. He is awakened by Reiner, who then requests an action plan. He indicates before making a choice since a squad is still by their back. Thankfully, Christa shows up behind them with two horses, and she follows up on the earlier meeting by discovering Jean’s misplaced mount.

She thanks Reiner and sobs in relief that they are safe. She is viewed as a deity by the three, who then rejoin the formation.

After some time, they come across a green light for a turn. Armin invites them to follow even though everyone is perplexed because the call for retreat hasn’t been ordered yet and wonders whether there was a mistake.

Eren follows Levi while pondering what may be happening to the others. Another scout shows up and informs them of the devasted right wing, which is where Armin is located. Black signals appear, and Levi complains that the opponent is too aware of everything.

In The Dark

The female titan moves with an extraordinary elegance and agility that no one is used to as she continues to defend herself against the encircling scouts. She is able to take out a squad in her path and tug like a string on their ODM gear. Stragglers are then hunted and kicked away if they try to report.

News of the right wing’s demise and the female titan reaches the cart squad at the centre, with them also wondering why retreat hasn’t been ordered yet. Now that the formation appears to be moving into a thickly forested area, the left squad ranks are concerned.

While the other squads manoeuvre around it, Erwin gives the order for the supply waggon to enter the woodland. Jean and his party are perplexed as to why they are so far from their desired location. They are discovered by another squad commander, who instructs them to take up position above the woods and confront any approaching titans. Jean is now really concerned about the proposal.

Jean expresses dissatisfaction with their “sightseeing excursion.” Their local head also refused to provide any explanations. At this moment, he humorously considers betraying him. He prods Armin, who appears to have discovered something, but a titan soon approaches. Armin realises that Erwin could be aware of the female titan’s pursuit of Eren and their guiding of it to this location.

Her Intentions

Levi responds to Eren’s inquiry regarding their location by explaining that they are in a forest of enormous trees for a good reason. If he wants to live, he should utilise his head, the man begs.

Even Oruo, Petra, and Eld express concern over Eren’s plan, despite Eren’s belief that this is being done to allow him to learn from his peers. Even Captain Levi might not be aware of what is going on.

Armin now surmises that the plan’s modification was made in an effort to seduce the female titan. Jean understands that they are being used as bait to keep titans away from the centre as additional titans show up and follow them from beneath the woods.

The captain warns Levi’s troops to get ready as black smoke appears behind them. The female titan approaches with lightning speed, effortlessly fighting off the scouts in pursuit in the background. The group is in disarray as Levi struggles to keep up while remaining silent. As he fires a signal, he orders everyone to protect their ears.

Attack on Titan Season 1 Episode 18 Summary

Reiner inquires about Armin’s omni-directional mobility equipment while treating to his wounds after the Female Titan departs for Eren. It appears to be operating as intended, Armin responds. When Jean tries to claim his horse, Reiner observes that they only have one. Knowing that someone will have to be left behind, he considers what they will do in his head.

Armin seemed to be drifting off while thinking back to his experience with the Female Titan. Reiner continues by stating that they must choose who will stay behind. As a last resort, Jean sends out an emergency signal, and Armin offers to be the one left behind. As Armin begs Reiner to convey a message to Erwin, Jean observes an approaching figure.

Krista the savior
Christa shows relief for the safety of her friends.

Christa, who is guiding two horses—one of which is Jean’s horse—seems to be heading towards their direction. Christa is a really kind person, and Reiner finds it hard to believe that the emergency signal truly worked. The three boys watch in astonishment as Christa remarks that she is happy they are all still alive, with Reiner even thinking to himself that he wants to marry her.

Following that, they return to the formation believing that a retreat signal should be issued shortly. However, they are shocked to see that the mission has continued on a different track. They disagree with this choice, but they comply with the directive and shoot the green signal flare as well.

Levi and the rest of his team can also view this from a different location, and Oruo is the one who fires the signal. The operation appears to be going smoothly, Eren muses to himself, when a soldier comes and informs them verbally that the right side of the formation has been destroyed. Eren is concerned about Armin and the rest of his squad, so Levi commands Petra to convey this message farther into the formation. A signal from an abnormal Titan emerges at the same instant.

The Female Titan in action
Female Titan killing soldiers

Four troops fight the Female Titan there, four soldiers. It is stopped in its tracks by a black smoke signal fired by Darius Baer Walbrunn. He then gives the command for the remaining men to launch an attack, believing that their target cannot withstand three simultaneous blows.

The Female Titan, on the other hand, leaps and crushes two soldiers—one against a structure and another under her foot—while killing the third by spinning him on her wire so quickly that the inertia fractures his spine and folds him. To warn everyone about this Titan, Darius tries to flee, but the Titan catches up with him and kills him by launching both him and his horse into the air.

Contrary to the initial concept, the formation continues to move east. They finally arrive in a forest of enormous trees. Erwin commands that only the middle of the formation enter the woodland when he enters it. Sasha inquires about their direction but is informed that they are circumnavigating the jungle. In another place, Jean questions the plan as well because it has been drastically altered from their initial purpose.

They are then told to stop and kill any Titans that try to enter the woodland by a senior soldier. When Conny inquires about what happened to the formation at that point, Mikasa responds that they are probably avoiding the forest in this manner and losing their ability to see enemies in the process.

Jean whines about the orders once more as she waits above the woods. He responds that he is going to obey the commands, which is the appropriate choice, when Armin inquires about his plans. Armin questions Erwin’s ulterior agenda as they observe a Titan coming their way. Eren questions Levi about their decision to go into the forest alone and forfeit their capacity to defend themselves. Levi responds that if he wants to live, he should think and points out that the trees are the ideal setting for omnidirectional movement equipment.

A frightened Jean observes all the Titans attempting to approach them and remarks that they do not need to fight as long as they do not try to enter the forest, while Armin surmises that Erwin plans to deal with the Female Titan within the woodland. Right behind Eren’s squad, a black smoke signal suddenly appears to announce the presence of an Abnormal.

Eld concludes that it is the one responsible for squeezing the right-side soldiers. Just as they see a soldier come into view, Levi commands them all to draw their swords. A short while later, the Female Titan charges through the trees, swatting the soldier in their rear to start the pursuit.

Petra requests permission to employ omni-directional mobility equipment while they are being pursued, but Levi only observes as troops approach to combat the Female. However, to to Eren’s despair, they are quickly dispatched. Oruo advises killing the Titan, and Petra again begs Levi for instructions. Eld pulls out his sword and prepares to slay it.

Eren chuckles, believing that the Female made a mistake in choosing hell by pursuing these skilled Titan-killers. Eren is then shocked to observe Levi still keeping quiet and gazing forward. After the team has screamed in fear for a while, Levi eventually commands them to cover their ears before pulling out his signal flare and launching it aloft.
