Girl of Steel (鉄骨娘 Tekkotsu Musume?) is the third episode of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime adaptation.
The first scene of the episode takes place in Tokyo, as Yuji and Megumi wait outside the train for a third first-year female who has come to join jujutsu tech in order to fulfill her friend Saori’s desire of visiting Tokyo. Yuji questions Megumi as to why there are only three first-year pupils in such a large institution while they wait. Megumi informs Yuji that only a few individuals possess the ability to see the curse and that in the past, new applicants were not accepted into Jujutsu Tech. However, recently, this procedure has been initiated in order to allow new applicants to be accepted into Jujutsu Tech.
Gojo pops up and compliments Yuji’s attire before revealing that I’ve had a hood made specifically for you. Everyone gathered at Harajuku station to meet Nobara, the new girl, who had requested it. As she arrives at the station, she notices a man pressuring a model for an interview. She yells at the man to take his interview, which irritates the man, who then rushes out of the place.
Nobara Kugisaki answers Gojo’s call by keeping her stuff in the coin locker while introducing herself. She considers her two classmates to be odd when she looks at them.
Exorcise The Curse-
As this is their first time interacting together, Gojo recalls taking the three on a tour of Tokyo. This excites Nobara and Yuji to no end. Immediately, Nobara and Yuji start to smile. Gojo informs them that they are traveling to Roppongi, where they must execute an exorcism at an abandoned building close to a cemetery. Yuji and Nobara become furiously frustrated.
Upon arriving at the structure, Gojo announces that it is abandoned and that a curse has taken residence there. The fact that there was a cemetery close by made it easy for the curse to possess that particular structure. Nobara asks while interpreting for everyone: Why are you telling everyone this when the jujutsu sorcery already knows it? When she learns that Yuji had swallowed Sukuna’s finger, she is shocked.
For the purpose of advancing their skills, Gojo wants that both of them pass this field exam. In addition, Gojo provides Yuji with a cursed knife called “Slaughter Demon” that can extinguish the cursed energy. He warns Yuji to refrain from using the Sakuna power while stepping inside since doing so puts Nobara in danger too. Megumi should stay outside although this test is for Nobara, and the two are given the task of getting rid of the curse that really is existing in the building.
Yuji Slaughter Demon Knife
In order to find the curses, they both set out in the direction of the building. Yuji argues when Nobara orders him to go downstairs, but he is neglected, and Nobara proceeds by throwing him a kick. Yuji is concerned by Nobara’s attitude and is pondering over something. A cursed monster assaults Yuji from above, but Yuji employs his amazing reflexes to kill it with a cursed knife.
Outside Gojo calls Yuji crazy because even when he didn’t have Sakun power, he didn’t hesitate to fight the curses. To deal with the bizarre nature of curses, a sorcerer must have the requisite level of craziness. Essentially, Gojo was testing Nobara to determine how insane she is. When Nobara enters, she notices some mannequins and realizes that they have been possessed by the curse. Later, Nobara attacks the mannequin using a hammer and nails, which forces the curse to manifest in its original form.
The curse, according to Gojo, is relatively weak where Nobara belongs, making it useless for her experience. The potency of curses also starts to expand with the population. As Nobara and the cursed corpse combat, the head of the body is shattered by her nails as the cursed energy passes through them. Nobara eventually detects the voice of a young child lurking behind that Marequeene.
A Curse suddenly appears from behind and snatches the child’s head when she urges the child to leave but he refuses. The cursed intellect surprises Nobara, who is holding the kid as a hostage.
She surmises that the curse has captured the boy because he is aware of his weakness. Nobara surrenders to save the child but she realizes that if she survives then only she will be able to exorcise the Curse. Nobara, however, is thinking about his friend Saori as Curse is refusing to leave the child and is about to kill him.
Then Yuji busts through the wall and uses a knife to sever the cursed person’s hand in order to rescue the child. After that, the curse tries to leave, but the Nobara Straw Doll technique banishes it.
Tough as Nails
Saori, a friend of Nobara’s from Tokyo, had once moved in along with him, but the residents there had a negative perception about him and had discriminated against him. Finally, Saori had to leave that community. Nobara didn’t like this either, so she made the decision to attend Jujutsu Tech because she had always wanted to visit Tokyo. Nobara claims that if she had remained in that town for a few more days, she would have passed away. Yuji thought this explanation was a little odd. I should now be able to meet Saori as I’ve been to Tokyo claimed Nobara.
Nobara compliments Yuji and inquires about his strength while asking how he managed to knock down the wall. Gojo treats everyone to dinner as a reward for him leaving the kid at home. Yuji refuses to go and engages Nobara in a quarrel when he is asked to get his possessions.
Nobara contends that it was her cursed strategy that helped them prevail. Yuji responds that his strength was helpful, but Nobara thinks he acquired that strength by eating Sukuna’s finger.
The other first-year student is quiet and on his phone when Yuji looks to Megumi for support. Gojo argues that the reason he is grumbling is that he had to sit out the exercise.
Nobara is not your average third-lead anime girl. I can’t wait to see this whole team dynamic work. I rate this a 4.0/5.
